The Conference Centre at LACE is further enhancing it’s food offer by introducing menus with the emphasis firmly on local produce, from places including Halewood, Knutsford, Lancashire, Southport and Wirral.

Customers are being offered a range of choices which can be tailor made to suit individual tastes. Options include business breakfasts, three course lunches and gala dinners.

Conference Centre Manager, Nicola Hitchen, says ‘When we started exploring local produce, we discovered there is an abundance of high quality homegrown food on our own doorstep. The demand for local produce is higher than ever and we are now able to offer our customers the quintessence of British cuisine. It also gives us the opportunity to support local businesses with the added benefit of helping the environment by significantly reducing the air miles involved in the delivery of overseas produce.’

16 August 2006 - Healthy Eating at LACE

The Conference Centre at LACE was presented with the prestigious Greater Mersey Food Charter Award on Wednesday, 16th August. The Charter, which has been developed by Heart of Mersey and Liverpool John Moores University, recognises the need to offer people healthy choices when eating away from home.

The daily menu at LACE always includes healthy options such as salmon, asparagus and yellow pepper crepes. Chef Mark Bond says ‘healthy eating must be encouraged as an essential part of modern living. We deliberately widened the range on offer in our salad bar in response to the trend and it is proving to be immensely popular.’

LACE has received a four star rating under Liverpool City Council’s ‘Scores on the Doors’ website. The site publishes the results of environmental health inspections and has had more that a quarter of a million hits since it launched last September.

Environmental health investigators check the way food is prepared, the standards of kitchen hygiene and overall conditions of kitchens. Chef, Mark Bond says ‘The inspection has revealed that we do take hygiene very seriously and we are delighted with the result.’
